Xiaodong Ma, age 59, of Concord, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, August 11, 2017. She was the devoted wife of Baozhang He.
Born in Tianjin, China on April 29, 1958, she was the daughter of Sirong Liu of Beijing, China and the late Hongxing Ma. She spent most of her childhood and early years in Beijing, eventually attending Beijing Medical Institute. After graduating, she remained in Beijing and went on to conduct medical research.
In the spring of 1985, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, and Bloomington, Indiana, before moving to Cambridge in 1992. She was passionate about her work as an IV Nurse at Cambridge Hospital, and has been a Concord resident since 1999. Her many interests included travel, fashion and home decoration. She was a skilled swimmer and talented dancer.
In addition to her husband and mother, she leaves behind her daughter Olivia Mei Halleck and granddaughter Halsey Xiuhua Halleck, of Washington, DC; her younger sister, Xuemei Ma of Beijing, China; and many extended family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, August 13, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. She will be buried during a private service at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
