Obituary

Wynona Louise (Lowe) Smith passed away peacefully on Friday evening, December 3, 2021 in Concord at the age of 88. She was born to Alletrys Capitola Mackey and William Worth in Jumbo, Oklahoma on August 26, 1933. She was the oldest of eleven children, during an era that seems very distant from today. She met her true love, Arvin in McLean, Texas and was married in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1954. They celebrated their 67 years together this past summer. Wynona and Arvin lived in many different parts of the country during their lives together. Their two favorite homes were Concord, MA and Colleyville, TX. No matter the distance, Nona remained in touch with her parents and younger siblings. She often recounted fond memories of visiting with family members from Indiana and Kentucky to Oklahoma and Texas. Wynona enjoyed travel and exploring history. She especially enjoyed her trips to China and Europe, and made numerous trips to Hawaii. She loved art, watercolor painting, reading, and gardening. Wynona was incredibly proud of her Native American heritage as a member of the Choctaw Nation. Her greatest joy was her family. Wynona loved spending time visiting her children and grandchildren at Christmas, and vacationing on the Cape during the summers. She found joy in attending birthdays, graduations, and family gatherings. After raising her family, she worked in bookkeeping for several different businesses. Nona was a passionate and eager volunteer within her community. She greatly enjoyed her involvement in the Girl Scouts and Scout House during her time in Concord. In Colleyville, Wynona was an active member in the Garden Club and the Investment Club. Beyond her involvement within the community, Nona was always generous in supporting and caring for family and friends in times of need. She is survived by her beloved husband Arvin H. Smith, of Concord, MA. Loving sister to Guy, Ted, Dan, Jerry, Terry, Steve, and Bill Lowe, Linda Seal, Brinda Smith, and Nancy Clark. Devoted mother of Debra Turner and her late husband David Turner of Bradford, NH; Donna Murphy and her late husband Philip Murphy of Boxborough, MA; and Diane Donahue of Millis, MA. Caring Aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Loving Nana to her grandchildren Laura, Robyn, Greg, Will, Brian, Destinee and Robert; and her great grandchildren Ethan, Rena, Aiden, and John. Family members will gather privately for her funeral service in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home in Concord Center, followed by burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or The Concord Scout House, P.O. Box 73, Concord, MA 01742. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
