William J. Shaughnessy, 67, of Maynard, former longtime West Concord resident died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Nivea (Mendes) Shaughnessy. In addition to his wife, Nivea, he is survived by his children Linda, Mark, Heather and Sayonara, his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Annelise, Samuel and Zachary, his brother, Jack Shaughnessy, a nephew Dan Shaughnessy and many dear friends and relatives. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday, June 22nd in recognition of Mr. Shaughnessy's service to his country in the U. S. Marine Corps.
Cemetery:
Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord where Fr. John Prusaitis will read the committal prayers and officers of the U. S. Marines will present military honors.
Visitation:
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Friday, June 21st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
Service:
Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 22nd from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER at 7:45 AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bridget's Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard at 9 AM.
