William G. Salem, Jr., 77, of Ashburnham, formerly of Carlisle, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, May 22nd. He was the beloved husband for 54 years of Marita F. (Forrest) Salem. Born in Boston on December 19, 1938, he was the son of the late William G. Salem, Sr. and Mary (Jacowicz) Salem. After graduating from Needham High School, Mr. Salem attended Northeastern University in Boston where he received his undergraduate degree in Business. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963, stationed at Fort Devens, MA. A Carlisle resident from 1977 to 2012, he was a communicant at St. Irene's Catholic Church and served as a Boy Scout leader. In addition to his wife, Marita, survivors include his son, Michael Salem and his wife Cheryl of Ashburnham, his grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Kayla, William, Peyton, and Cameron, and his brother, Richard Salem and his wife Mary Lee of Madison, WI. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 26th from 9 to 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery, Carlisle, where officers of the United States Army will present military honors. Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
