William L. "Robin" Root III, 72, of Concord died Sunday March 29, 2015 at his Concord home. He was the beloved husband of 50 years of Susan E. (Tofferi) Root. Born in Pittsfield, Mass. on March 23, 1943 he was the son of William L. Root Jr. and Blanche (McGeoch) Root. He attended Concord public schools and was a 1961 graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School. He later attended University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Mr. Root retired in 2008 after many years of employment at Deck House in Acton where he worked in sales. He had previously been employed at Concord Lumber Company in sales for over twenty years. He was a member of the Concord Baseball Club, and was a former coach in Concord Youth Baseball. He enjoyed traveling and reading. In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by a daughter Jennifer Anne Ferris and her husband James of Concord, a son David M. Root and his wife Amy of Hope , Maine, four grandchildren, Caroline J. and Sarah E. Ferris, both of Concord and Phoebe S. and Chloe S. Root, both of Hope, Maine. He was also the brother of the late Jane Whitely. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 1st from 5 to 7 pm at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. A graveside service will be held Thursday April 2nd at 10 am in The Knoll section of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Bedford Street. (Rte. 62) Concord. Officiating will be The Rev. Becky Gettel, Assistant Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord.
