William J. Pierce, 81, of Concord, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the beloved husband of Helen J. (Lips) Pierce. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 9th.
Born in Cambridge on November 26, 1928 he was the son of the late William J. Pierce Sr. and Margery (Hughes) Pierce. He attended Bedford and Lexington public schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1946.
For over 40 years, prior to his retirement in 1990, Mr. Pierce was employed in the sheet metal industry and was a member of the Local Union No. 17 of Boston for over 50 years.
A Concord resident since 1950, he was a former member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed attending his grandchildrens sporting events, gardening, and a good horse race. His family and friends were important to him and he was always there to lend a helping hand.
In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by one son, John W. Pierce and his wife Nancy of Concord, four daughters, Margery E. Bloomer and her husband William of Rutland, Vermont, Karen L. Wallace and her husband David, Elaine Meunier and her husband Maurice, all of Littleton, and Mary J. Pierce and Ed Leger of Natick. Thirteen grandchildren including Matthew, Kate, Aaron, and Geoffrey Bloomer, Jack and Lisa Pierce, Andrea and Rachel Wallace, William Naylor III and his wife Tasha, Andre Meunier, Monet Proulx, Leah and Amanda Leger. Two great granddaughters, Tiana Naylor and Steysha Smith. Two great grandsons, Jacob Jurgen and Parker Proulx. A brother Paul R Pierce (deceased) and his wife Jean, along with many nieces and nephews.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.
Visitation:
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, September 14thfrom 4 to 7 PM.
Service:
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 15thfrom the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER at 10 AM followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 11 AM.
