IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Neal
Monsen
July 20, 1938 – August 12, 2025
William Neal Monsen, of Acton, formerly of Concord, died suddenly on August 12, 2025 from complications of congestive heart failure. He was 87.
He was born in Concord on July 20, 1938 as the son of the late William and Sally (Sunell) Monsen. After graduating from Concord High School, where he played on the football team, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army reserves. Later, he earned a business degree from Babson College.
For over thirty years, Bill owned and operated an Exxon franchise in Acton, developing countless friendships with his customers. He had an incredible work ethic. His business ventures included managing area rental properties he acquired.
Growing up, Bill developed a genuine love for baseball. There was never any question about his loyalty to the Red Sox. He was fond of memories listening to Sox games with his father on the family's radio or cheering the team on from the stands of Fenway Park.
Bill will also be remembered as an active, independent person up until his passing. He was passionate about skiing, and cherished several trips to Colorado over the years. Skiing felt more like a way of life to Bill - the slopes of a snow-covered mountain brought him joy and serenity. On many Sunday's, Bill and his two children bonded while watching football, cheering on the Patriots and playing rounds of golf together. He also played tennis regularly with longtime friends, and would often express how much his "tennis buddies" meant to him.
Bill's values never wavered throughout his life. He was a patriot who loved his country and a man with a strong faith, conviction and sense of family.
He was the beloved father of Linda Monsen and the late William S. Monsen, who predeceased him in 2024. Bill was the Grandpa of Anastasia Grace Monsen and Andrew Loeffler. He was the brother of the late Muriel Spurr.
Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Sunday, September 7th from 1 to 2 pm. Bill's funeral service will be held at 2 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
