William S. Flannery, Sr., 68, of Gardner, formerly of Hollywood, FL and originally from Carlisle, MA, died unexpectedly following a brief illness at Heywood Hospital in Gardner on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.
Born in Concord on December 15, 1950, he was the son of the late Richard and Helen (Sowerbutts) Flannery. He graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1969. Bill loved fishing, reading, and riding his bike. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren later in life.
He leaves behind his former wife for 30 years and caretaker, Shirley (Engebretson) Flannery of Gardner, three children, William Flannery Jr. and his wife Michelle of West Roxbury, Rebecca Katsikas and her husband Keith of Manchester, NH, and Amy McBride and her husband Delvecchio of Gardner, as well as eight grandchildren and two grand-dogs, Murphy and Peanut. He is also survived by four siblings, Daniel, David, Patricia, and Stephen Flannery, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a funeral procession forming at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Saturday, June 4th at 8:45 am, followed by a graveside service beginning at 9 am in the family burial plot at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
