Obituary

Randolph, Vermont – William Thomas Taggart, Billy to his family, died on July 1, 2024 just a week following his 63rd birthday, after a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Bill was born on June 25, 1961 in Vernon, Connecticut and lived most of his childhood in Concord, Massachusetts riding big wheels and bikes and leading the "dastardly deeds club" ringing doorbells and pool dipping on muggy summer nights. He loved horses, was an unbelievable gymnast, and developed his killer dance groove on the disco hits of the 1970s – a groove that was on full display on Halloween at Babes in Bethel and on New Year's Eve with friends in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He also loved to sing, which he did for the folk mass at Our Lady's Help of Christians as a young man and more recently by pulling out his karaoke machine.

There was never a time that Bill did not have his well-known sense of humor and gentleness. He used both to give excellent care to his clients providing home health assistance and to the many friends and sponsees in the recovery community that was so important to him. He was loved in this community and with friends in Bethel at Babes where he could truly be himself.

He was predeceased by his parents Maureen (Corcoran) and Bill and his brother-in-law Jason Smith and brother-in-law Michael Cahill.  He is survived by his sister Mary Anne Cahill and her partner David Classen of Randolph, brother Jimmy and his wife Susan of Wallingford, sister Christine of Mashpee, Massachusetts, sister Ellen and her wife Margaret Limoge of Winooski, and brother Matthew and his wife Kelly of Stewartsville, New Jersey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Josh and Amanda Howe, Emily and Jon Stowell, James, Harrison, and Maureen Taggart, Matthew and Katie Taggart, and great nieces and nephews Alden and Finley Stowell, and Avery and Lincoln Howe.

Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA on Friday, July 12 from 12 to 1 pm. His funeral service will begin at 1 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.
