Warren Arthur Simmons, 82, of Acton, formerly of Concord died Thursday April 22, 2010 at his Acton home. He was the beloved husband of 55 years of Beverly Miller Simmons.
Born in Portland, Maine on June 29, 1927 he was the son of the late Willis A. and Gladys (Merrill) Simmons. He was a 1946 graduate of Belmont, Mass. High School and later of Northeastern University in Boston.
Mr. Simmons was the owner and president of Specialized Plastics, Inc. of Hudson, a company he founded in 1976. He had previously been employed for many years in various capacities in the plastics industry.
He was a resident of Belmont and Lexington prior to becoming a resident of Concord in 1970. He moved to Acton in 2007.
In Concord he was a former president of the Concord Youth Ice Association, a former coach in the Concord Little League and was a former member of Nashawtuc Country Club. A direct descendent of the Mayflower, he enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Beverly, survivors include three sons, Jeffrey A. Simmons of Littleton, Glenn R. Simmons and his wife Paula (Young) Simmons of Maynard, and Andrew Miller Simmons of Acton, seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Taylor, Haley Jean,. Benjamin, Jacquelyn and Meghan Simmons, a sister Barbara A. Bond and her husband Robert of Hallowell, Maine, 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday April 27th at 11 am in the Farrar Chapel of Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St., Concord Center followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home were held on Monday April 26th from 4 to 8 pm.
