Walter F. Foley, 84, of Concord, died peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston on April 23, 1931 he was the son of the late Francis G. and Alice (Hayes) Foley. He attended Roslindale public schools and graduated from Roslindale High School. He received a Bachelor degree from New England College of Pharmacy in Boston.
During the Korean Conflict he served as a radio operator in the U. S. Navy.
From 1965 until 1998, he was the owner, operator and pharmacist at Snow Pharmacy in Concord Center.
He enjoyed the water, loved to travel, loved to laugh and bring comfort to others. A longtime Concord resident, he was a member of the Concord Kiwanis Club and the Milldam Club.
Survivors include his former wife Mary Lou (Coleman) Cooney and 7 children, Mary Lou Crowley of Central, SC, Janet Sandstrom of Princeton, Frank of Acton, Elizabeth of Acton, Eileen Bullen of Clarkston, MI, Walter of Hudson and Jennifer Lawrence of Fairfax, VA., his sister, Margaret Foley of Boston, 20 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Dorothy Ryan, Barbara Mariano, Alice Meredith and Robert Foley.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 6th from 4 to 8 at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER.
Funeral Thursday, May 7th from the Dee Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10:30 am.
Burial will be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord where officers of the U. S. Navy will present military honors.
Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Thursday in recognition of Mr. Foley's service to his country during the Korean Conflict.
