Obituary

Virginia A. Bishop, 87, of Concord, formerly of Belmont, died Saturday March 19, 2011 at Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland. Born in Waltham on October 18, 1923 she was the beloved daughter of John J. and Florence C. (Gayton) Bishop. She attended Watertown schools and was a graduate of Needham High School, Class of 1941. She later attended Perry Normal School in Boston. Miss Bishop retired in 1987 after over 30 years of employment as a personnel officer at M.I.T. in Cambridge. She resided in Belmont most of her adult life and was a former parishioner and communicant of the former Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Belmont. An avid traveler, she toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Survivors include her brother John J. Bishop of Weston, two nephews, John "Jay" O'Neil of Duxbury and James Kelly of Lunenburg, a niece Florence Doiron of Fitchburg, and two great nieces. She was also the sister of the late Florence B. Kelly and Irene B. O'Neil, both of Concord. Memorials: Contributions in her memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Cemetery: Interment will follow in the family burial plot in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Visitation: Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 22nd from 10 am to 12 Noon in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Service: A funeral service will be held in the Dee Funeral Home on Tuesday March 22nd at 12 Noon.
