Vincent Frank Ciampa, 81 of Palm Springs, CA, formerly of Carlisle, MA died on September 16, 2010. Vincent was the son of the late Louis Ciampa and Yolanda (Zacardi) Ciampa. Born in Boston in 1929 and raised in Somerville and Arlington.
Vincent was a graduate of Arlington High School in 1946. During his high school days, Vincent was highly involved both academicaly and athletically, he played three sports (Football, Basketball and Baseball) and was the Vice President of his senior class. Upon graduation, Vincent received an academic and athletic scholarship to Fordham University in New York, where he played both Football and Baseball. After graduating from Fordham, Vincent served in the United States Air force from 1951 to 1955.
During the late 1950's, Vincent worked in community development programs throughout the Boston area while also working toward his Master's degree in social work from Boston College.
From the 1960's to the 1980's Vincent worked in several community development programs, international development programs, state human resource projects, and mental health programs. These jobs included the Boston ABCD program, the Massachusetts Anti-Poverty Project, The Ford Foundation in Caracas, Venezuela and the Emerson Hospital Special Aftercare team. In the mid-1980's, Vincent started his own private practice as a social worker, consulting with people and other professionals in the mental health field.
Mr. Ciampa leaves his wife, Sally, currently living in California, a son, Peter and a daughter Cynthia, both of Lexington and many other friends and family members.
