IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas
Proia
September 7, 1946 – November 5, 2023
Thomas Norman Proia, of Concord, formerly of Belmont, passed peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023. He was 77.
Tom, as he was affectionately known, was born in the "Lake" neighborhood of Newton and was the youngest of four children. He was lovingly raised by his late mother, Rose (nee Russo) Proia, who doted on him, much to the chagrin of his siblings. Tom's father, Anthony, passed away when Tom was just four years old, but in that short time, he instilled a strong work ethic in his son. Tom would go on to establish and build a thriving landscaping company that proudly bears his name to this day.
Tom's life was a tapestry of passions and interests. He was an avid softball player, a skillful candlepin bowler, and greatly enjoyed watching movies. Tom was a lifelong fan of New England sports, and passionately supported his favorite teams. In his younger days, he had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling. Yet, above all else, Tom found his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved family. His children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
What made Tom truly exceptional was his ability to infuse joy, humor, and boundless enthusiasm into every facet of life. He possessed the unique gift of effortlessly making friends, and his infectious spirit could light up any room. Tom's quick wit and clever quips never failed to elicit hearty laughter, leaving lasting impressions on all who crossed his path.
Tom leaves behind three children, Tommy (Judith), Tracy (Kevin) McIntyre, and Todd (Suzanne), whose successes are a testament to the unwavering support and kindness he extended throughout the years. For his children, he was more than a father; he was a guiding light, a source of strength, and a cherished friend. We say, "Thanks, Dad," for the love and wisdom you imparted.
Tom's treasured legacy extends to his adored grandchildren – Shea, Thomas, Sophia, Bailey, Quinn, Max, Olivia, Addison, and Nina. We miss you already, Pop Pop.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony and Paul, who were often his co-conspirators, and his sister, Joanne, who always stood as his protector.
A very special thank you to the wonderful people at Care One in Concord, who treated Tom like a member of their own families. Your endless compassion and exceptional care will always be appreciated.
Tom's family will gather privately on November 10, 2023 for the celebration of his Funeral Mass in St. Bernard's Church at Holy Family Parish in Concord. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
