Thomas P. McNamara, 74, formerly of Somerville and Hanson, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Westford House in Westford. He was the beloved husband of Phoebe (Murphy) McNamara. Born in Medford on May 3, 1937 he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Gertrude (Donahue) McNamara. He attended Somerville public schools, graduated from Somerville High School in 1955 and received a Bachelor degree in Finance from Boston College in 1959. For many years, until his retirement in 1995, Mr. McNamara worked as an underwriter at Commercial Union Insurance Company in Boston. For the past three years, he was a resident of The Inn at Robbins Brook in Acton. From 1968 until 2009 he resided in Hanson, Massachusetts and was an avid New England Patriots fan. Survivors include 2 daughters, Susan McNamara of Long Beach, CA and Patricia Berglund of Norwell, 2 sons, James McNamara of Chelmsford and Daniel McNamara of Knoxville, TN, 7 grandchildren, Timothy, Hailey, Michael, Cooper, Katherine, Cole and Charlotte. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 7th at 10:30 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
