Thomas J. Farren, age 88, of Concord MA, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He was the devoted husband for 58 years to the late Virginia (Kennedy) Farren who passed away in 2014 and he was the son of the late Neil and Mary Farren. Tom was a native of Medford, MA, where he spent the bulk of his time in the Medford Hillside and Boston Avenue. He was a veteran of the Korean War. The majority of his professional career was spent working for the US Government at Hanscom Air Force Base. Tom was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish (formerly known as St. Bernard's) for more than 50 years, where he also served as a Eucharistic Minister and a religious education teacher. He enjoyed carpentry projects, Notre Dame Football and spending time with his proudest achievement, his eight children and their families. Tom was the dedicated father of Kathleen Farren, Michael Farren and his wife Sandra, Carole Ledoux and her husband Phillip, Tom Farren and his wife Elizabeth, Mary Lefew and her husband Douglas, Rita Soberg and her husband William, Neil Farren and his wife Lynn, and Eileen McBride and her husband Kevin. He was the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and great grandfather of three. He is also survived by his brother, Fr. John Farren, O.P. and his sister, Sr. Mary Farren, R.G.S. Tom was predeceased by two siblings, Cornelius and Monica Farren. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, January 25th from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. All attendees are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral Mass will be celebrated, followed by burial at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Tuesday, January 26th in honor of Mr. Farren's dedicated military service to our country.
