Thomas W. Cook, 66, of Maynard, formerly of Acton, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the beloved husband for forty years to Louise (Steeves) Cook. They were married in 1971 in Acton.
Born in Miami, Florida on November 9, 1944 he was the son of the late William and Katherine (Allison) Noren. He grew up and attended schools in West Virginia.
During the Vietnam era, from 1961 until 1965, Mr. Cook served in the U. S. Army.
For many years, prior to his retirement in 2009, he worked as a machinist, designer and model maker for Arthur D. Little, now known as Tiax, in Cambridge. Previously, he was employed at Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard for twenty years.
A Maynard resident since 1984, he previously was a resident of Acton for thirteen years. During his leisure time, he was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed operating radio-controlled cars.
In addition to his wife, Louise, he is survived by his daughter, Ann Cook English of Maynard and Eddy Cook and his wife Stacey of Fitchburg, 1 sister, Jane Benson and 1 brother-in-law, Terry Benson, both of Middleboro, and 6 grandchildren, Arlena, Greyson, Georgia, Rhiannon, Mercy and Layla.
At Mr. Cook's request, there will be no services.
