Obituary

Theodore E. "Ted" Landry, Jr., 90, of Tempe, Arizona, formerly of Concord, MA, died August 22, 2013 at the Friendship Village Residence in Tempe, AZ. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Higgins) Landry. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on August 4, 1923, he was the son of the late Theodore E. and Lou Bird Landry Sr. He attended Baton Rouge Parochial Schools and graduated in 1940 from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. In 1949, he received his Bachelor in Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa and Europe; later during the Korean Conflict, he served in the U. S. Air Force and was stationed in Hawaii. For many years, prior to his retirement in 1990, he worked as a Permit Engineer at the Environmental Protection Agency in Boston. Previously, he was employed by Lockheed Corporation in California as a Pyrotechnical Engineer where he designed rocket motors. He was a longtime Concord resident from 1967 until he moved to Tempe, Arizona in November 2012. From 1958 until 1967, he lived in Redlands, California. He enjoyed gardening, travel and was an avid sports fan. Survivors include his children, Debra Landry of Tempe, Arizona, Stephen Landry of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Catherine Landry of Washington, DC, his grandchildren, Christopher Landry of Ann Arbor Michigan and Brian Landry of Houston Texas. He was also the brother of the late Robert D. Landry of Port Allen, Louisiana. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday in recognition of Mr. Landry's service to his country in the U. S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Service: A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 31st at 10 AM in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.
