Teresa DiPaola "Teri" Hale, of Concord, a woman devoted to her family and friends, died peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2018. She was 59 years old.
Teri was born on June 9, 1959 in Queens, New York to her father, Richard DiPaola, and her mother, the late Dorothy (Hanes) DiPaola. After graduating from Fairfield Ludlowe High School in Connecticut, Teri finished her studies at Babson College in Wellesley, where she met her husband.
For several years Teri was a sales executive for IBM in Chicago and Boston before she devoted herself to raising her family in Concord. As a cherished mother, she passionately nurtured the educations of her children. She volunteered at Fenn, Nashoba Brooks, Concord-Carlisle High School and Middlesex, when her children were students at each of these schools. She served as a Trustee of the Scholarship Fund of Concord Carlisle for twelve years and was an active member of the Award Committee. One of her great joys was to get to know a deserving high school student, to grant a scholarship award, and then to follow the student's success in college.
A Concord resident for over thirty years, Teri was a member of the Concord Country Club and attended Church at both TriCon and First Parish. She also had strong ties to the island of St. Martin where her parents lived in retirement and especially to Eastham where she could be found every summer walking the beach in search of beautiful seashells and sea glass. In these places (or anywhere else) she would often express gratitude for her happiness by remarking that she was "living the life of Riley."
Teri will be lovingly remembered by her family and by her countless friends for her kindness, humor, and intelligence. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, David E. Hale, one daughter, Lucy Hale of Boston, two sons, Tyler Hale of Wellfleet, and D. Robert Hale and his wife Catherine of San Francisco, CA, her grandchildren, Sam (4), Daphne (2), and Rory (2 months), her father, Richard DiPaola and his wife Nancy of Fort Myers, FL, two sisters, Diane Hunt and her husband John of Atlanta, GA and Cindy Plascencia and her husband Oscar of Los Angeles, CA, one brother, R. Scott DiPaola of Olympia, WA as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her brother David DiPaola. Teri would tell anyone who would listen that each of her family members "had hung the moon."
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during a memorial service on Sunday, November 11th at 2 pm in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden Street, Concord Center. A private burial will take place before the service at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Teri's memory can be mailed to The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle, P.O. Box 217, Concord, MA 01742 or made online at (thescholarshipfundofcc.org).
Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
