Stephen W. McWalter, a lifelong Concord resident, died on July 5, 2021 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, following a brief and valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was 67.
Steve was born at Emerson Hospital in Concord on July 30, 1953, as the son of the late Judge Maurice and Jean (Stirling) McWalter. He began his education at Rose Hawthorne and Xavier Schools, followed by Concord-Carlisle High School. After graduating with the class of 1971, Steve attended Framingham State University.
Prior to his retirement, Steve owned and operated a trucking company. He was a music lover, particularly classic rock, as well as being an avid reader and amateur history buff. He enjoyed Tuesday night trivia tournaments at the Colonial Inn, and made many impactful friendships through his affiliation with Alcoholics Anonymous.
Steve's memory will live on through his sons, Patrick McWalter of Plymouth and Ryan McWalter and his wife Shauna of Glenmont, NY, two grandsons, Jack and Reid McWalter, his former wife and dear friend, Deborah (Reno) McWalter of Acton, three siblings, Anne "Nancy" Forbes of Vienna, VA, Maurice McWalter and his wife Patricia of Brewster, Molly McWalter Donohoe of Haverhill, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Meg McWalter Finan and Thomas McWalter.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 14th from 4 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral will take place on Thursday, July 15th at 10 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
