Shirley E. Waite, 82, of Concord, died on Thursday, July 28th at Emerson Hospital in Concord.
Born in Concord on April 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Frederick A. Waite and Ethel M. (Nicholson) Waite.
After graduating from Concord High School in 1952, she received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Fitchburg State College.
A devoted teacher, Ms. Waite taught elementary school in Burlington, Natick, and Maynard over the course of her career. In addition, she held memberships with the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Teachers Association.
She loved animals, particularly birds, and enjoyed travelling. She will be lovingly remembered as a loyal caretaker to her family and a good friend to many.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Charles Waite, Frances E. Bander, Donald Waite, and David Waite.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a funeral service at 12 pm in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. John C. Lombard, Senior Minister of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord.
Burial will follow the service at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
