Shirley R. (Rice) Jimmerson, formerly of Concord and Fort Myers, FL, passed away in Marlborough on June 14, 2024 at the age of 95.

She was born in Worcester on October 20, 1928 to her parents, Vincent and Rose (Hallihan) Rice.

She attended elementary school in West Concord and graduated from Concord High School in 1946.  Shirley continued her education at Fitchburg State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in education.  Later, she received a master's degree in special education from Northeastern University in Boston.  She completed her doctorate as a School Psychologist through programs at Harvard and McLean Hospital.

Throughout her career, Shirley taught locally at the Thoreau, Alcott and Ripley schools in Concord.  She truly enjoyed her role as an Educator, and all areas of teaching.

She is survived by one son, John O'Connell and his wife Barbara of Sudbury, and three grandsons, John, Andrew and Michael O'Connell.  She was also the mother of the late Kathleen O'Connell.

Graveside services at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute .
