Sherry L. (Dee) Mobley, age 73, a woman beloved by all who knew her, died peacefully and comfortably at her Pepperell home on Tuesday evening, January 11, 2022, following a long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife for 50 years of Jack A. Mobley, and the dedicated mother of the late Nathan Patrick Mobley who died in 2014.
Born in Concord on March 26, 1948, she was the devoted daughter of the late Charles W. Dee, Sr. and Nancy I. (Sealey) Dee. She attended Rose Hawthorne School in Concord, Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH, and graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1965. Sherry continued her studies at Plymouth State College in New Hampshire and Miami-Dade Junior College in Florida. She later earned an undergraduate degree from Franklin Pierce College in Nashua. Sherry's early career in hotel management led to employment at Concord's Colonial Inn and The Radisson Heritage Hotel in Chelmsford. She was also Director of Environmental Services for New England Deaconess Association at Newbury Court in Concord.
For many years, she was employed at Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord, as the Director of Family Services. Sherry was proud to serve families as the fourth generation of Dee's affiliated with the firm. Her calming presence, compassionate nature, and genuine concern for others will never be forgotten.
As a longtime active member of the Concord Lions Club, Sherry was a past President and recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. She was a Corporator for New England Deaconess Association, and served as past President of the Massachusetts chapter of the International Executive Housekeeper's Association. She served on the executive board for C/SEC Inc. in Waltham, helping to organize the Middlesex County support group.
An avid genealogy enthusiast, she took special care and pride in researching the Dee and Mobley family ancestry and lineage. She also loved traveling, particularly when visiting relatives in New Orleans and Ireland.
In addition to her husband, Sherry's memory will be cherished by her daughter-in-law, Stephanie Nutter and Stephanie's daughter, Rosalind, her sister, Susan M. Dee and her husband Mark C. Johnson, her brother, Charles W. Dee Jr. and his wife Dari, her brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Cynthia Mobley, as well as her nieces and nephews, Pamela Pickering and her husband Shawn, Matthew Adams and his wife Stacy, Blayne and Daniel Dee, Windy Mobley and Stacy and her husband Robert Kallies, and several grand nieces and grand nephews. She also leaves her aunts, Gloria Cook Dodge, Terry Cook, and many Dee and Cook cousins in the United States and Ireland.
Family and friends will celebrate Sherry's life during visiting hours on Thursday, January 20th from 3 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 21st at 9 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will immediately follow in the Dee family plot at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her son and parents.
