Obituary

Serita Weaver Eisenbies, age 84, a devoted family member and fierce friend, passed away on September 21, 2024, in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Known for her unwavering dedication to her family and friends, Serita was a tireless advocate for young people and those needing help. She spoke up for what is right and looked out for the best for her community and those around her, demonstrating remarkable grit in the face of adversity.

Born in Torrington, Connecticut, and raised in Hartford, Serita earned a Youth Leadership degree from Springfield College. She began her career as a social caseworker at Greer School in Millbrook, New York serving troubled young people as they prepared for adulthood. While in New York, Serita met and married John, her husband of 50+ years. They soon relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina where they would raise their three sons with love and dedication.

In Raleigh, she contributed her expertise to helping youth at church and her community and her sons' swim teams. As a dedicated, enduring member of West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, she served terms as Deacon and Elder where her and John's impact and legacy continue to be felt. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the West Raleigh Children's Center and volunteered at the Halifax Court Daycare Center in Raleigh.

Serita was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. With her family, she and John created lasting memories, generously hosting yearly vacations at Holden Beach, North Carolina, and at their home for many Holiday Seasons. Laughter and love flourished, and many clams and shrimp were enjoyed.

Serita is survived by her sons, Chris and his wife Sandy, of Massachusetts, Mark and his wife Penelope of New York, and Stephen and his wife Jenny of California. She is also survived by her seven beloved grandchildren and brother-in-law Charles Eisenbies. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and brother, Noel Weaver Junior.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Eisenbies Memorial Fund at West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, 27 Horne St, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
