Scott D. Goranson, 49, formerly of Concord, died unexpectedly at his home in Natick on April 7, 2021.
Scott was born in Concord, on November 10, 1971 as the son of David and Jeanne (Costello) Goranson of Concord. Scott was a happy child with a smile that would melt hearts. He was a natural athlete and played baseball and football through high school. Coaches nicknamed him "Scooter" because of his speed on the field. He also had a passion for golf that stemmed from earning money caddying at the Concord Country Club (riding his bicycle everyday to work). Local pros gave him playing time which developed into him being elected Captain of his high school golf team.
He was a 1990 graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School and Roanoke College in Virginia in 1994, earning a Bachelor of Arts. He worked at Brown Brothers Harriman as a Team Leader of Financial Reporting for 11 years. Most recently, he was the Assistant Vice President of Financial Reporting at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
In his too short visit with us, we recognize in Scott the qualities we all strive for in life. He was unfailingly kind, empathetic, hard-working, and loving. He always brought a smile to friends and even strangers. If you were a friend, you were a friend for life, and if you just met him you wanted to be his friend.
Scott loved and was protective of his younger sisters. He was alternately amused and amazed at their escapades as teenagers. A wry grin, a shake of his head and a chuckle would usually follow a recounting of the latest Kirsten (Goranson) Francini or Heather (Goranson) McKenzie adventure.
Scott always regarded his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, not so much as relatives, but as friends who were intensely interesting whenever they met.
The greatest loves of his life however, were his two children. Christian and Grace have received all his best qualities. Scott would always be available for his children's swim meets, baseball games, soccer games, and school functions. Participating with Christian and Grace – decorating the house for Halloween, setting up the model train villages at Christmas, caroling on Christmas Eve in Concord, or just watching them skiing brought him joy. Scott was never happier or prouder than when called "Dad."
To say someone will be missed at an occasion such as this may seem obvious and even trivial. In Scott's case, each individual that knew and loved him know the weight of these words in their hearts…."Scott we miss you---"
