Obituary

Sandra G. Olansky, 84, of Newton, MA, passed away on November 27, 2021. She was an adventurous spirit, an art teacher, and an artist. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and a caring and loved neighbor in her community. She is mourned by all those whose lives she touched. Sandra was born on January 4, 1937 in Gary Indiana, to Edgar and Nelle (Crawford) Stinson. She graduated from the University of Illinois and earned a Masters degree in Art Education from the Massachusetts College of Art. She taught art in the public schools for many decades, with her last and longest position teaching at Fox Hill Elementary School in Burlington, MA. She spent her summers traveling the world and venturing into the most remote places. Her deep love of people, nature and the arts energized her life. Sandra was married to the late Julian Olansky, and leaves behind her three children and spouses, Justine Hebert (Donna Somers), of Carlisle, MA. Jason (Cindy) Olansky, of Pownal, Vermont and Jessica (Robert) Arado, of Carlisle, MA. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Mehlenbacher, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Berman. Her greatest joys were spending time with her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Amber, Leah and Justin Olansky, Ryan, Reid and Tyler Hebert, Robert and Nicholas Arado, Blake Perretta, Shailyn Holman, and Jaxson Olansky. A celebration of Sandra's life will be held in the spring. Donations in her memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 (www.dana-farber.org). Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
