Obituary

Ruth E. (Faulkner) Evans, 86, of Acton and Concord, formerly of Bedford and Watertown, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Concord Health Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Evans who died in 1980. They were married in 1948 at St. John's Methodist Church in Watertown and were high school sweethearts. Born in Waltham on November 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Baldwin) Faulkner. She attended Watertown public schools and graduated in 1944 from Watertown High School. For 15 years, prior to her retirement in 2001, Mrs. Evans worked as a Receptionist at the Rivercrest/Deaconess Association in Concord. Previously, she and her late husband were co-owners of Evans and Faulkner Printing Company in Watertown. In 2006, she became a resident of Concord, previously was a longtime resident of Bedford and Acton. She was an active member of the MAPS Group at Grace Chapel in Lexington and participated in the Joy Bible Study in Lexington and Acton. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as "Mema" and she enjoyed her many pets. Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Bishop Little and her husband Robert J. of Acton, and her late husband Larry K. Bishop of Acton, and Judith A. Maguire and her husband William C. of Roswell, Georgia, 9 grandchildren, Bobby Bishop and his wife Jessica, Kenneth Bishop and his wife Angela, Rebecca (Bishop) Abbott and her husband Christopher, Carolyn Timm Bishop, Jennifer (Maguire) Fitzpatrick and her husband J.R Richard Maguire, Nina Maguire, Rob Little and his wife Jill, Karen Vaillancourt and her husband Peter. She was the sister of Ethel Gillis of Meredith N. H. and Naples, FL, and the late Robert Faulkner and his surviving wife Paula of Waltham, and the late Harry and Walter Faulkner. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 17th from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM in the Faith Evangelical Free Church, 54 Hosmer Street, Acton followed by a funeral service at the church at 11 AM. Burial will be held in the family burial plot in Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton. Contributions in her memory may be made to Amirah, Inc. P. O. Box 760867, Melrose, MA 02176.
