Ruth Mitchell Burk passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2021 at the generous age of 96, with her family close by. Ruth grew up on her family's farm in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and lived there all of her life. She met her future husband George William Burk when they were both students at Concord High School, and the couple married upon George's return from his service in World War II. After completing her Associates Degree at Lasell College, Ruth combined raising her three children with running the soil lab at University of Massachusetts Extension Service in Waltham. She was always up for an adventure, and made travel across country and throughout Europe some of her children's most indelible experiences. A second home on Cape Cod yielded many special memories of boating, fishing, and big family dinners. Ever the uncontested matriarch, Ruth will be deeply missed by her daughter Lindsay Blackler and son-in-law Peter; her daughter Lesley Allison and son-in-law Geoff; and her son Prescott Burk and daughter-in-law Susan Tobey. All of her children and seven grandchildren enjoyed Ruth's forceful personality, her quirky humor, knack for mischief and boundless generosity. After a private family service, Ruth will be laid to rest at her husband's side at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to an animal shelter of one's choice. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
