Obituary

Roy E. Anderson, 85, of Concord died Saturday July 31, 2010 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. Born in Concord on February 6, 1925 he was the son of the late Carl T. Anderson Sr. and Julia (Andersen) Anderson and was the brother of the late Carl T. Anderson, Jr. and his late wife, Josephine M. Anderson of ConcordHe attended Harvey Wheeler School in West Concord and was a member of Concord High School, Class of 1944. He served in the United States Army. For many years Mr. Anderson was employed as a shipping clerk at the former Dovre Ski Binding Co. in West Concord. He later retired after many years of employment at Middlesex Savings Bank in Maynard. He was a Life Member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club. An avid golfer, he was a former member of the Maynard Country Club and enjoyed playing golf at courses around the United States and abroad. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends. Mr. Anderson also spent many hours collecting cans and bottles, donating the funds he collected to local charitable organizations that benefited children. He was the uncle of Charles F. Anderson and his wife Margaret of Maynard, Christine M. Anderson and James E. Anderson, both of Concord. He was the great uncle of 5, great-great uncle of 5, and is also survived by several cousins, and many friends in Concord and surrounding towns. A funeral service will be held Thursday August 5th at 1 pm in the Farrar Chapel of Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Interment will be private. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday August 4th from 4 to 7 pm. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Thursday in honor of Mr. Anderson's service to his country in the U.S. Army. Arrangements are under the care of Charles W. Dee and Susan M. Dee. Dee Funeral Home of Concord. Visitation: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 4th from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Service: Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 1 p.m. in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
