Rosemary (Ryan) Stewart, 86, of Concord, died Saturday Feb. 16, 2013 in Concord. She was the beloved wife of 48 years of the late Charles C. Stewart who died in 2001. Born in Paterson, New Jersey on May 12, 1926 she was the daughter of the late J. Phillip Ryan and Julia (Brophy) Ryan. She was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Fairlawn, New Jersey and received her B.S. in Mathematics from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1948. She was employed for several years as a Technical Assistant at Reaction Motors in Dover, New Jersey. A resident of Massachusetts since 1961, she first resided in Lexington, and came to Concord in 1965, where she was a long time communicant of St. Bernard's and later Holy Family Parish. A volunteer with the retarded, Mrs. Stewart was a former President of Minute Man Association for Retarded Citizens (MMarc) in Concord. She was most proud of the fact that small community homes were established, thereby getting clients out of state institutions . An avid reader, she also enjoyed word and math games and puzzles. Survivors include her children, Charles P. of Concord, David P. and his wife Mayra of Groton, Brian and his wife Carolyn of Great Barrington, Clare Hemphill and her husband Matthew of Essex, VT, Julia of Maynard, Gregory and his wife Carolyn of Maynard, her son-in-law Jorge Gamboa of Caracas, Venezuela, 15 grandchildren, her siblings John Ryan and his wife Lois, Sheila Gillespie, Margaret Kane and her husband Robert and Phillip Ryan and his wife Elaine, all of New Jersey and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Ellen Gamboa and sister-in-law of the late George Gillespie.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the family burial plot in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Maynard.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held Tuesday Feb. 19th from 8 am to 9:45 am in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St., CONCORD CENTER.
Service:
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday Feb. 19th at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center.
