Obituary

Ronald B. McKinney, 79, of Concord, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at Concord Health Care Center in Concord. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Nicholas) McKinney. Born in Miami, Florida on February 3, 1932 he was the son of the late George and Leona (Farrell) McKinney. He attended Boston public schools, graduated in 1950 from Boston English High School and attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC. During the Korean Conflict he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army working in intelligence where he was stationed in Japan. After his military service, he was employed by the National Security Agency (NSA) in Washington, D.C. as a cryptanalyst. Mr. McKinney later worked as a systems analyst in the computer industry. He was employed by NCR, Honeywell, and Digital Equipment Corporation. For many years prior to his retirement, he worked as a systems consultant. A resident of Concord since 1971, he previously lived in Washington, DC and Lincoln, Massachusetts. A devout Roman Catholic, he was a longtime communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Concord and St. Joseph's Church in Lincoln. He was a World War II history buff. In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his son, Gregory McKinney and his wife Stephanie of Alpharetta, Georgia; his daughter, Lisa (McKinney) Krywucki and her husband Benjamin of Groton, MA; and 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan and Julia McKinney. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 12th from 5 to 7 PM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 13th at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln. Burial will be private. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Wednesday in recognition of Mr. McKinney's service to his country during the Korean Conflict. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the care of Susan M. Dee and Charles W. Dee, Directors, Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
