Obituary

Rodger E. Hebert, 50, of Shirley, formerly of Warren died of Cystic Fibrosis on Monday July 30, 2012 in Worcester. He was the husband of 16 years of Justine D. (Olansky) Hebert, teacher at the Thoreau School in Concord. Born in Ware on January 4, 1962, he was the son of Roger L. and Virginia L. (Booth) Hebert of Warren. He attended Warren schools. In his youth he enjoyed attending the Ted Williams Baseball Camp in Lakeville, first as a camper and later as a camp counselor. He was a 1980 graduate of Quaboag Regional High School in Warren. In 1984 he received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Brandeis University, where he lettered in Varsity baseball, and was an undefeated relief pitcher in his four years of college play. He played baseball for Brandeis at the first M.I.T. Baseball Tournament held in 1984,and was the recipient of the Most Valuable Player Award at the Tournament. He later played for the Great Scott team in the Boston Park League. During the 1984 Park League season, he was selected to play for the league's All-Star team in their game at Fenway Park in Boston against the 1984 USA Olympic team. An avid sports lover, he served as Treasurer of his Fantasy Baseball League and was a member of the Bosox Club. He was also active as a coach in Shirley Youth Baseball and of the Concord-Carlisle High School Junior Varsity Baseball team. Since 2005 he has been employed as Director of Quality Assurance at Bridgewell Co. in Lynnfield. He previously worked as Director of Quality Enhancement at the Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center in Newton and as a compliance officer at Fernald School in Waltham. In addition to his wife and parents, Rodger is survived by three sons, Ryan, Reid and Tyler Hebert, all of Shirley, and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was the brother of the late Lindy Sue Hebert. Visiting hours will be held Thursday August 2nd in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be on Friday August 3rd at 11 am at St. Paul's Cemetery, Maple Street, Warren. Donations in his memory may be made to Shirley Youth Baseball and Softball, P. O.
