Robert J. Ridick, of Chatham and Marco Island, FL, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was the loving husband of Carole A. Ridick for 56 years, and devoted father to Robert Jr., Mark, and Christopher Ridick.
Born in Worcester in 1935, Robert received his Bachelor's of Psychology in 1957 from the College of the Holy Cross, and earned his Master's of Psychiatric Social Work from Boston College in 1959. His strong desire to help the less fortunate led him to a fulfilling thirty-year career as a Social Worker at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Bedford, MA. A lifetime National Association of Social Workers member, he also worked part time at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Worcester for twenty-six years counseling those afflicted with substance addiction. Robert's work led to the founding of the Honor Court in Worcester, a humane alternative to prison for substance addicts.
After raising his family in Concord for twenty-two years, Robert and Carole retired to Chatham and Marco Island where they enjoyed spending time with their sons, grandchildren, and friends. He was a founding member of the Marco Island Men's Club, an active supporter of the Concord Boosters Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Robert will be sorely missed by his sons Robert Jr., Mark, and Christopher, daughters-in-law Kathy and Kristie, grandchildren Kyle, Spencer, Carter, Alison, Erin, and Trey, and son-in-law Eddie.
Visiting hours will be held at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Thursday July 16 from 5-8 pm.
A funeral Mass will be held in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord on Friday, July 17th at 10 am.
