Robert J. "Bob" O'Grady, 89, of Concord, died at CareOne in Concord on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was the dedicated husband of the late Kathleen (Gallo) O'Grady, who died in 2019.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Christopher and Margaret (O'Shaughnessy) O'Grady. He attended St. Augustine Grade School, before graduating in 1949 from Teaneck High School in New Jersey, where he was active on the wrestling team. Bob continued his education by earning a bachelor's degree from Georgia Tech. From 1953 until 1967, Bob proudly served in the United States Navy, where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant upon discharge.
Bob embodied a hard work ethic throughout his professional career, which included serving as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for American Biltrite Inc. He owned and operated Nagog, a tech manufacturing company, worked in recruitment for O'Grady Associates, and was employed for Emerson, as a specialist in medical transcription.
A devout catholic, Bob was a parishioner at Holy Family Parish in Concord, and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Acton. He was also a member of Cursillo, a Christian leaders organization, and the Minuteman Ridge Neighborhood Association.
Bob will be forever remembered for his love of boating, sailing, biking, reading, gardening and old western movies. He enjoyed tackling home improvement projects, was an avid bird hunter, and a lifelong dog lover. An adventure enthusiast, Bob cherished his many travels, especially camping and road trips, that he ventured on with relatives and friends.
He was the devoted father of Daniel O'Grady and his wife Linda of Ohio, Marianne O'Grady of Afghanistan, Patrick O'Grady and his husband James Wheeler of Mattapoisett, Joseph O'Grady and his wife Michelle of Middleton, Catherine Clemente and her husband Rafael of Cambridge, and the late Christopher O'Grady. Bob was the proud grandfather of Daniel, Christopher, Jessica, Lily, Christopher, Maya, Grace, and Lauren, and the great grandfather to Lincoln and Conner. He also leaves his sister, Nancy Brown of Florida, and a brother, Thomas O'Grady of Texas.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, April 9th from 5 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish in Concord on Saturday, April 10th at 10 am.

Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday, April 10th in honor of Bob's faithful service in the United States Navy.
