Robert Whitcomb "Bobby" Damon Jr., 68, of Surprise, Arizona, formerly of Concord, Massachusetts died suddenly on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He was the beloved husband for 49 years of Nancy C. (Lawrence) Damon.
Born in Concord on June 24, 1946 he was the son of the late Robert W. and Laila (Waineo) Damon. He spent his childhood in Concord and graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School. It was in Concord where he met and married his soul mate, Nancy Lawrence. Bob also graduated from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont in 1968.
He then worked for General Electric, Curtiss-Wright and several other private companies that required his family to move to New Jersey and Michigan where lifelong friends were made. He especially enjoyed playing golf at Nashawtuc Country Club, hanging out in the 19th hole, and watching his beloved Red Sox.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his children, Robert W. Damon, III and his wife Robin of Marshfield and Cynthia Damon of Stoneham; his grandchildren, Sophia and Nicholas Damon, both of Marshfield; his brother Kennan Damon and his wife Elizabeth of Fremont, California; his aunt Elizabeth Damon of Concord; his mother-in-law, Mary Lawrence of Concord; and his sister-in-law of Sarah Lawrence Murphy and her husband Thomas of Concord. Also survived by nieces and nephews. He was also the nephew of the late John Damon, William Damon, Kennan Damon, Winslow Damon, Margaret Damon Rounds and Oliver Waineo.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st from 5 to 7 PM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 11 AM in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Brown, Associate Minister of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord.
Burial will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord where Rev. Brown will read the committal prayers.
