Obituary

Robert J. Cutler, 84, of Stow, formerly of Maynard, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Concord on April 20, 2022. He had been surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. For 60 years, Bob was the dedicated husband and soulmate of the late Mary E. (Grigas) Cutler, who died in 2018. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 17, 1937. After pursing a pharmaceutical degree, Bob chose to enlist in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He served overseas at the 5th General Hospital outside of Stuttgart, Germany. Following his military service, Bob began his professional career which included employment at General Electric as a Purchasing Manager and as a Shipping Specialist for Skinner Auctioneers in Bolton. Bob enjoyed being active in the community he loved as a longtime member of the Stow Minutemen, and serving as a Call Firefighter and EMT for the Town of Stow, where his calming presence was steadfast. He admired countless camping excursions, particularly seasonal trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, a place near and dear to his heart. He loved the many light houses along the Maine coast. Seeing the same fellow campers over the years formed great friendships and memories. Bob was also a lifelong animal enthusiast. Bob will be lovingly remembered as a man who selflessly devoted himself to others. As a faithful husband, he remained by Mary's side until her passing. As a devoted father, he always supported his children's endeavors. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and other close relatives and friends. Bob was endeared to many, and left a lasting impression with everyone he met. He was a generous man, not only with his time for others, but his commitment to supporting local organizations, causes and charities. Those left to cherish Bob's memory include his daughter, Claudia Curran and her husband David of Concord, his son, Jim Cutler and his wife Noelle of Winchendon, six grandchildren, Justine Curran, Lindsey Baum, Elizabeth Curran, Ashley Oliveri, Jackie Ellis and Steven Ellis, four great grandchildren, Bryleigh, Nicholas, Sophia and Greyson, one sister, Diane Kerr of Exeter, NH, several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed his canine companion, Billy, who faithfully watched over Bob in his final days. He was the grandfather of the late Andrew Cutler, and brother of the late Carl Cutler Jr., Barbara Volpe and Jean Cutler. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Sunday, May 1st from 1 to 3 pm, concluding with a funeral service at 3 pm. Private burial with military honors will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Stow. Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to Last Hope K9 Rescue , 71 Commercial Street, #184, Boston, MA 02109. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
