Robert Bruce Caldwell Sr., 79, a lifelong Concord resident died Monday March 6, 2017 in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 61 years of Judith L. (Troupe) Caldwell.
Born in Concord on April 23, 1937 he was the son of Malcolm G. Sr. and Bertha (Lorimer) Caldwell. He attended West Concord schools and Concord High School.
Mr. Caldwell was a 60-year Life member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4. He worked for many years for Wes-Julian Co. in Dedham and at many construction sites throughout New England.
Bruce was a former member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club and the Concord Lodge of Elks.
He enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR and Boston sports, especially the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. He also enjoyed fishing on Warners Pond.
In addition to his wife Judith, he is survived by three children, Barbara Phillips of California, Ellen Doucette and her husband Paul of Maynard and Robert B. Caldwell Jr. and his wife Denise of Tewksbury. He was also the grandfather of Jessica Phillips of Arizona, James and Emily Doucette of Maynard and the late Christopher Phillips, and the brother of Malcolm G. Caldwell Jr. of Shirley, Dr. Thomas Caldwell and his wife Sharon of Lexington, Douglas Caldwell and his wife Nancy of Wisconsin, and the late Jean Hampson and Richard Caldwell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday March 10th from 4 to 8 pm at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
Services and interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery will be private.
