Obituary

Richard M. Kruszkowski, age 87, of Concord and retired Firefighter of the Concord Fire Department, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, May 4, 2018. He was the loving husband for 63 years of Edna (Lottatore) Kruszkowski. They were married in 1954 at St. Clement Parish in Medford. He was born in Chicago, IL on February 19, 1931 to his late parents, John and Clara (Warwzyniak) Kruszkowski. During his youth, he attended St. Ignatius Preparatory School in Chicago and subsequently studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Mr. Kruszkowski honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. His military obligations included being stationed in Trinidad as a Journalist and Editor of the base newspaper. Later, he was transferred to the Admiral Staff in Norfolk, VA as part of a ship inspection team. His naval service concluded in Boston at the Navy Public Affairs Office, where he met his beloved wife. He served as a Firefighter for the Town of Concord for twenty years. In addition, he was a former Safety Training Officer for fifteen years at Nuclear Medals in Concord. His expertise in the field led to his own consulting business, which he operated for five years. A Concord resident since 1959, Mr. Kruszkowski was a parishioner and lector at the former Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in West Concord. He had a deep passion for photography, and contributed regular photo submissions to the Concord Journal. His photo documentations often aided Concord Fire Department investigations. He will also be fondly remembered as a proficient and meticulous handy man and an avid chromatic harmonica player. In addition to his wife, Edna, he leaves behind three sons, Neil Kruszkowski and his significant other Christine Heffernan of Groton, Martin Kruszkowski and his wife Jayne of Tyngsboro, and John Kruszkowski and his wife Michelle of Maynard, his grandchildren, Nancy and Richard Kruszkowski, Ana and Susanne Kruszkowski, Steven Kruszkowski and his wife Sarah, Amanda Ramunto and her husband Beau, and David Kruszkowski, his great-grandchildren, Madison Ramunto and Harrison Kruszkowski, a brother, Ronald Kruszkowski of Michigan, his sister, Cynthia Migala of Chicago, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
