Obituary

Richard K. Hayes, 76, of Concord died peacefully in his Concord home on Wednesday September 15, 2010. He was the husband of Faye Erhard Hayes. Born in Concord on June 13, 1934 he was the son of the late Daniel and Rita Gately Hayes. He attended Harvey Wheeler School and graduated from Concord High School with the Class of 1952. Mr. Hayes worked at the family owned and operated Concord Garneting Mill in West Concord. For many years he managed the Hayes Family Estate. He was an avid landscaper, naturalist and truck enthusiast. In addition to his wife Faye, survivors include three sons, Kevin Hayes and his wife Toni of Melbourne, Florida, Timothy Hayes and his wife Maureen of Maynard and Mark Hayes of Pepperell, four grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristen, Joshua and Megan Hayes, a step-son Kenneth Homan and his wife Suzie of Dubois, Pennsylvania and a step-granddaughjter Emmy. He was the brother of the late David and William Hayes. A funeral service will be held Saturday September 18th at 2 pm in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Interment will follow in the family burial plot in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be on Friday September 17th from 4 to 8 pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to Parmenter Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778.
