Richard J. Hallett, 74, retired Patrolman for the Lincoln Police Department, died Monday, December 1st at Marlborough Hospital. He was the beloved husband for 51 years of Mary "Patsy" (Marshall) Hallett.
Born in Boston on December 23, 1939 he was the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Gilbert) Hallett.
Mr. Hallett was raised in Lincoln, attended Lincoln Public Schools, and graduated from Weston High School in 1958. He later received an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice.
During the Vietnam War era, he served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.
For thirty-four years, prior to his retirement in 1996, he served as a Patrolman for the Lincoln Police Department.
An avid sailor, he frequented Salem, MA and Rockport, ME with his beloved sailboat. He also adored animals.
A resident of Northborough for the past four years, he previously resided in Sudbury for over forty years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Christopher L. Hallett of Northborough.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 8th at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln.
Burial with military honors will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 7th from 1 to 4 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord.
