Richard H. Dunbrack, age 82, of Concord, died at home on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. He was the devoted husband for 56 years of the late Eileen L. (Coffey) Dunbrack who died in 2014.
He was born in Waltham on August 21, 1936 to his late parents, Reginald E. and Julia (Kennedy) Dunbrack. After growing up on a family farm in Lincoln and graduating from Concord High School, he furthered his studies at Boston University. There, he earned an Associate's degree and was a Teaching Assistant for the engineering program. He remained active as a BU alumnus and a member of the Reunion Committee for his high school class.
Mr. Dunbrack pursued a successful career as an Aeronautical Engineer. For the majority of his professional life, he was employed by EG & G, Inc. in Bedford where part of his responsibilities included working on the U.S. Defense System. Later, he was affiliated with GCA and US Windpower in Burlington.
The ultimate craftsman and builder, he was the sole proprietor of Milldam Woodworks, based out of his Concord home. He specialized in constructing custom furniture, and took pride in personally completing several projects and renovations on his home over the years. He held a lifelong passion and love for hockey - whether it was as a player, coach, or spectator. He also enjoyed big band music, vintage airplanes, and blue fishing on Martha's Vineyard.
He leaves behind four children, Lin Dunbrack of Boulder, CO, Richard M. Dunbrack of Martha's Vineyard, Tim Dunbrack and his wife Tracey of Maitland, FL, and Eileen D. Boynton and her husband Joseph of Wrentham, and his grandchildren, Caitlin and Sydney Dunbrack, Alex, Matthew and Liam Dunbrack, and Griffin and Shaeleigh Boynton. He was the brother of the late Gary E. Dunbrack and Robert E. Dunbrack.
Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation from 10 to 10:45 am on Wednesday, September 19th in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
