Raymond Tomlinson, 74, the inventor of modern e-mail and pioneering American computer programmer died Saturday, March 5th in Concord.
Survivors include his children, Brooke Tomlinson McKenzie and her husband Hector of St. Petersburg, FL and Suzanne Tomlinson Schaffer and her husband Dan of Cambridge, MA, his grandchildren, Brie and Mieka Schaffer, his brothers, Gary Tomlinson and his wife Carol and David Tomlinson and his wife Arlene, both of Broadalbin, NY, the mother of his children, Ann Tomlinson of West Palm Beach, FL, his longtime "leman", Karen Seo of Lincoln, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service was held with burial at Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, MA.
Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of his life which will be held on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 from 4:30 to 8:30 pm at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Samberg Conference Center, 7th floor of the Morris and Sophie Chang building (building E52), located at 50 Memorial Drive, Cambridge. Parking: The center is a short walk from the Kendall/MIT subway stop. There are also two parking lots nearby that are free on weekends -- the Hayward Lot and the E51 lot. Additionally, Cambridge resident parking restrictions and metered spots are not in effect on Sundays.
