Obituary

Ralph Edward Wesinger, Sr., 83, retired Concord Police Officer, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Ralph was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen "Kay" Harrington Wesinger on December 18, 2011. Born on June 23, 1932 in Lexington, MA he was the eldest son of Charles and Audrey Ryan Wesinger and brother to the late James, Charles, Gene and Lenard Wesinger. Ralph was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in Korea and honorably discharged in 1954 with the rank of SFC. He was a proud member of the 45th and 24th Infantry Divisions. He received his combat infantry badge. He returned home to marry Kathleen in 1955 and joined the Concord Police Department in 1959. In Concord they raised three children. During his career with the Concord Police Department, Ralph rose to the rank of Inspector and was Concord's Safety Officer for many years. Following retirement, he and Kay traveled the country. In 1993, they moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC. Together, they enjoyed golfing, rock hounding, mining and Square Dancing, belonging to several dance clubs. During his years in Concord, he enjoyed building houses. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed both hunting and fishing and was a former member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club. He will miss his friends and neighbors and his "Mass Group." Most of all, he will miss riding his Harley. He took pleasure in the accomplishments of his grandchildren and bragged about their success. He is survived by his children, Ralph (Skeeter) Wesinger, Jr. and his fiancée Ana Maria Ortega of Naples, FL, Linda Wesinger of Lowell, and Maureen Lewis and husband William of Concord. In addition, he leaves three grandchildren, Alissa Wesinger of Philadelphia, Ralph (Nick) Wesinger, III of Brunswick, ME, and Caitlyn Lewis of Concord. Funeral will be on Saturday, August 29th at 10 am from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, followed by a procession to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where a graveside service will be held at 11 am. Officers of the United States Army will present military honors, and officers/members of the Concord Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police will serve as honor guard. Visiting hours are Friday, August 28th from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home. Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday, August 29th in recognition of Ralph's service to his country in the United States Army. Donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140. Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.

Funeral will be on Saturday, August 29th at 10 am from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, followed by a procession to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where a graveside service will be held at 11 am. Officers of the United States Army will present military honors, and officers/members of the Concord Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police will serve as honor guard.
