Obituary

Ralph Flannery, 97, of Lincoln and formerly of Concord, died peacefully at home on January 12, 2021. He was the beloved husband for 68 years of Connie (Moszka) Flannery. He was born in Concord on December 18, 1923 as the second youngest of ten, and the last surviving child of Stephen and Mary (Busteed) Flannery. Ralph served during World War II in the United States Army 3170th Signal Corps, spending most of his time in the Philippines, Japan & New Guinea. Ralph was one of eight out of ten siblings who served in various branches of the armed forces, making the Flannery family Concord's most served family in the military during WWII. He was a brick mason by trade, and started racing cars in 1948, from Canada to Florida, winning several championships. In addition to his wife, Ralph leaves behind five devoted children, Ralph S. Flannery of Littleton, Sherry Murray and her husband Dennis of Groton, Pamela Poulos and her husband Theodore of Lincoln, Scott Flannery of Hudson, and Stacey Flannery Ancillo and her husband Anthony of Lincoln, as well as eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his brothers & sisters: Robert, Richard, Lawrence, Donald William, Walter, Leonard, Margaret Britt & Mary Bufton. Ralph will be laid to rest in the Flannery family burial plot on Author's Ridge in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, during a private burial service with U.S. Army military honors. The recorded service is below. As a proud Concordian, the Town Flag will fly at half-staff on the day of Ralph's burial, Thursday, January 14th, in recognition of his honorable service to our country during World War II. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to "Bedford VA" and mailed to The Bedford VA, C/O Volunteer Service (135) 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
