Philip A. Carrigan III, 60, of Milford, New Hampshire, formerly of Concord, Massachusetts died Friday, April 27, 2012. Born in Concord, Massachusetts on April 26, 1952 he was the son of the late Philip A. and Mary Elizabeth (Tobin) Carrigan. He attended Concord public schools and graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1970 where hockey was life. During the Vietnam Era, he served as an Ensign 3rd Class in the U. S. Navy, stationed in Newport, Rhode Island. For many years, Philip was self-employed in the Trucking Industry. A resident of Milford, New Hampshire, he loved a good Harley and was as avid reader. He wore honesty like a broken nose, loyalty like steel-toed boots, his heart on his sleeve, and 'Disgruntled Veteran' on his cap. He said exactly what he thought, and didn't worry about the consequences. He would carry a stranger on his back a mile if needed and would move mountains for his granddaughter if she but asked. He was gruff, he was opinionated, but most of all he was loved and he passed with joy in his heart. Though a bigger pain there may never have been, a better man there never will be. Survivors include his daughter, Caitlin Carrigan of North Chelmsford, his son, Philip R. Carrigan of Wilton, NH, 2 sisters, Maureen Read of Concord, MA and Eileen Powers of Mesquite, NV, 1 brother, Kevin W. Carrigan of Rockport and the late Jack Carrigan, and his granddaughter, Mebh Carrigan of North Chelmsford.
