Peter Sellew, 87, of Carlisle, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at home with his family.
He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Eileen (Curry) Sellew, his children, Mark Sellew and his wife Lisa of Glastonbury, CT, Paul Sellew and his wife Bonnie of Carlisle, Tim Sellew and his wife Fiona of Glastonbury, CT, and Stephanie Blunt and her husband Tim of Carlisle, and his grandchildren, Paul, Ben, and Jack Sellew, Chris and Eric Sellew, Nicole and Ryan Sellew, and Peter, Grace, Georgia, and Nate Blunt. He was the brother of the late Sheila Collins, Fran Lucas, and William Sellew.
He formerly resided in Darien, CT for twenty-one years where he raised his family and worked as an Executive of Grolier, Inc. in New York City.
Upon leaving Grolier, Peter followed his Entrepreneurial spirit and embarked on a long and lustrous career of new business ventures. He had an intense passion for plants that led him to start Prides Corner Farms, which has grown to be one of the largest wholesale nurseries in the Country.
He also launched a multitude of other companies, including worm farming, cashmere Goats, composting, commercial fishing, and waste management.
While Peter has left a legacy of innovation, creativity, and hard work coupled with a contagious passion for all he did, his first love was for his family.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 16th at 11 am in St. Irene Roman Catholic Church, 181 East Street, Carlisle.
Private family burial will follow at Green Cemetery, Carlisle.
The Sellew family is hosting a Luncheon at the Colonial Inn in Concord Center on Tuesday at 12:30 pm, immediately following the funeral Mass.
