Peter P. 'Uncle Pete' Carrigan, 91, formerly of Concord died Thursday March 1, 2012 in North Chelmsford. He was the beloved husband of forty years of the late Phyllis Marie (Puzella) Carrigan who died in 2004. Born in Somerville on June 9, 1920 he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Caroline (Molloy) Carrigan. He attended Somerville schools, was a graduate of Somerville High School and later received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Bowdoin College. During World War II, he served as a paramedic with the Army of the United States in the China, India, Burma theatre. Mr. Carrigan retired in 1985 from Garelick Farms in Bellingham as a chemist, after over 35 years in the industry. He was a resident of Arlington, Bellingham, and South Yarmouth prior to becoming a resident of Concord in 2006. For three years he lived at the Timothy Wheeler House in Concord where he was a well known resident who assisted in gardening and yard work. A good neighbor wherever he lived, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Yarmouth, was an avid Bridge player and along with his late wife Phyllis, were members of several square dancing clubs. He was also an active member of the China, India, Burma Veterans Association. He was the brother-in-law of the late William Puzella of Yarmouth, Josephine Grande of Concord and Reno Puzella of New Jersey, and is survived by three nieces, Barbara Bennett and her husband Ray of Maynard, Rita Johnson and her husband Chris of Concord and Rosemary Grande and her husband Al Antonitis of Concord, three nephews, Richard Grande and his wife Celia of Concord, Joseph Grande and his wife Gail of Concord and William Puzella and his wife Anne of Sandwich. He was predeceased by his niece Marie Natale of Stow. He is also survived by his cousins, Virginia White of Quincy, Kathie McCloskey and her husband Ernie of Groton and Bill Molloy of Fall River. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 6th in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center from 8:30 until 9:45 followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10 am. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:15 pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Tuesday March 6th in recognition of Mr. Carrigan's service to his country during World War II.
