Paula J. Silva

Paula Joan (Giurleo) Silva, of Concord, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 27, 2026. She was 64. 

Paula was born in Melrose, MA, to Salvatore and Jean (Kevorkian) Giurleo. A graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School, she held many local jobs, including Howard Johnson’s, Emerson Hospital, and Concord Teacakes. She was most known for her work as a self-made business woman, working tirelessly to keep people’s gardens looking “neat and tidy.” Paula was fierce, strong-willed, and funny. She never missed a day of work. Her most recent endeavor involved crafting vanilla bean extract, “Paula’s Homebrew,” for local farmers markets with her longtime friend, Paul. 

Paula, above all, was meant to be a mother. How fiercely proud she was of her daughter, Jen, and her son, Michael! She was driven entirely by love; there was nothing she would not do for her family and friends, and she gave her love freely, abundantly, and unconditionally. Paula spent the last week of her life beaming as her son graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy. She bought cases and cases of her daughter’s books. And her grandchildren, Connor (7), Eleanor (6.5), and Cameron (4), lit up her life. 

Paula is survived by her parents, Salvatore and Jean Giurleo, of Concord, MA; her children, Jennifer Marie Silva (Ahrum) of Bloomington, IN, and Michael Joseph Silva (Kari) of Clinton, MA; her twin sister, Pamela, and niece Ali, of Watertown, MA; her brothers, Shaun and Craig, and nephew Raphael, of Concord, MA; and her grandchildren. 

A private memorial was held by the family. A celebration of her life will be planned for when the flowers are in bloom.
