Paul Sanford Handler, age 92, of Beverly, MA, formerly of Boulder, CO, died peacefully with his devoted wife Barbara at his side on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
He was born in New York City in February of 1926 to his late parents, Nathan and Clara (Kantrowitz) Handler. He was raised in the Bronx, and later attended Farmingdale Agricultural School and Fordham University, where he received a Pharmaceutical degree. Paul served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
For many years, Paul was a successful Pharmacist and owner and operator of a Drug Store in North Tarrytown, New York. In the 1990's, he moved to Boulder before relocating to Beverly in 2015.
He was a passionate sports follower with a particular love of baseball. Nothing made Paul happier than dining out and having a delicious meal with family and friends around the table. He will also be remembered as an animal lover who enjoyed feeding and taking care of all the birds and squirrels that were willing to visit their property. As a lifelong music enthusiast, he was an amateur pianist and karaoke singer.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara (Levy) Handler of Beverly, two devoted children, Neil Handler and his wife Emily of Beverly and Nina Handler Asnes and her husband Adam of Boulder, CO, and his beloved grandchildren, Michael Asnes, Matthew Handler, Samadhi Asnes, and Ben Handler.
Services will be private.
