Paul M. Richter, Sr., 88, formerly of Bedford, died on October 8, 2023 following a period of declining health. He was the husband for 49 years of the late Jeanne M. (Kelly) Richter, who died in 2010.

Born on March 27, 1935, he was the son of the late Paul and Lillian (Carey) Richter. Paul was raised in Chicago and enjoyed being a Lifeguard on Lake Michigan during his younger years. After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Paul entered the United States Air Force. He served honorably for twenty years, which included deployment in Thailand during the Vietnam War, and being awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

Following retirement from active military service, Paul continued a long career with the Air Force as an Industrial Engineer. He also pursued and earned multiple master's degrees from colleges including Oklahoma State University.

At the age of fifty, Paul developed a passion for long distance running. He completed over twenty marathons, including the Boston, New York, Chicago and Marine Corps marathons, continuing well into his seventies. He also belonged to the Hanscom Air Force Base Running Club.

He was the devoted father of Kelly Crocamo and her husband John of Seymour, CT, Erin Boisvert and her husband Larry of Acton, and Paul M. Richter, Jr. and his wife Dana of Westfield, NJ, and the proud grandfather of Maggie, Christian, Emma, Sean, Jack, Ryan, Tyler and Kylie. Paul also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Tveter and Dana Richter.

Family and friends will gather for his funeral service on Tuesday, October 24th at 11 am in the Farrar Chapel of Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Burial will follow with U.S. Air Force military honors at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research .
